The Medicare Prescription Discount Card has arrived.
It is strictly voluntary and there is no time restriction for
signing up. Benefits begin June 1st, then a new year
begins on January 1st, 2005. If your income is below $12,124
individual or $16,363 for a couple, the card is FREE plus the
first $600 you spend on prescriptions is a given.
If you fall into this category, definitely sign up. If your income
is above this amount, you pay $30 for the card and will
receive discounts of about 10 to 15 percent on total drug costs,
with savings of up to 25% or more on individual presciptions.

( Medicare will have an actual prescription drufg benefit, Part D, in 2006.
As always, if you think you might be eligible for any programs
such as Medicaid, Mass-Health, Food Stamps, Medicare Buy-In,
Prescription Advantage, etc., call my office.
These are ENTITLEMENTS for Seniors, not "welfare"
so please go ahead and do take advantage of what is
rightfully available to you. |
